Story OutlineWeyard: an expansive world, controlled by the powers of alchemy. The four elements of matter: Earth, Fire, Wind and Water, contained within the four Elemental Stars – Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Mercury - wrought together through Alchemy to create vast seas, vibrant continents and thriving civilizations. Four lighthouses were constructed in various locations upon Weyard, each of which housing an Elemental Star and spreading its energy to the world. With these lighthouses alchemy breathed life into the world of Weyard, allowing men to progress and develop. However, over time, the ambitions and dreams of men gave birth to untold strife. Endless riches, eternal life, dominion over all that lived… for some, the temptation was far too great. These people strived to harness the power of Alchemy for their own gains, breeding conflict and war between each other. Were it not for a few wise men, Weyard may well have been torn apart. In secret, these men sealed away the Elemental Stars deep within Sol Sanctum, a temple built from within Mt. Aleph in the continent of Angara. Locked away from human hands, the secrets of Alchemy remained untouched… for a time. Nestled at the foot of Mt. Aleph lay the village of Vale, a quaint little community. The inhabitants of Vale possessed alchemic abilities referred to as Psynergy. Utilizing either the power of Venus (earth) or Mars (fire), these villagers exerted minor control over a certain element with the power of their minds. These villagers called themselves Adepts. One such villager, Isaac, was a young Venus Adept with powers over the Earth. At the age of 14, he bore witness to a tragic event in Vale's history – the fall of the Mt. Aleph boulder. An enormous rock, the Mt. Aleph boulder was quite likely to cause grave destruction and possible injury or death if allowed to fall. As such, many strong villagers held the boulder steady with Psynergy for as long as they could. Unfortunately, their power was not without limits and the boulder soon descended towards the village, claiming the life of Isaac's father and the parents and elder brother of his friend Jenna – her entire family. On that same day, Isaac and his friend Garet, a Mars Adept, encountered strangers in Vale. A mysterious man and woman, who spoke of breaking into Sol Sanctum and being unsuccessful in their endeavors. The strangers discovered Isaac and Garet eavesdropping on them and proceeded to swiftly defeat them. Believing both the tragedy and their defeat at the hands of the strangers to be caused by their lack of powerful Psynergy, Isaac and Garet channeled their grief into steady resolve to train their Psynergy, practicing vigorously in the years to come. At the age of 17, three years after the boulder tragedy, Isaac found himself involved in an expedition to Mt. Aleph. The scholar Kraden, a non-Adept residing in Vale, had been tutoring Isaac, Garet and Jenna in the study of alchemy. Together, the four travelled to Mt. Aleph and decided to venture into Sol Sanctum without permission. Inside, they uncovered the secrets hidden within the Sanctum for so very long – the Elemental Stars. Overcome with excitement and wonder, Kraden convinced Isaac and Garet to fetch the stars and bring them to him. However, as Isaac and Garet retrieved the stars, Kraden and Jenna were accosted by the very same mysterious strangers from three years previous: Saturos and Menardi – Mars Adepts of the Mars Clan in the northern reaches of Weyard, intent on stealing the Elemental Stars, breaking the seal on Alchemy and seemingly returning the world to its state of chaos and havoc. Accompanying them was Felix, Jenna's older brother thought lost in the boulder tragedy, and Alex, a mysterious Mercury (water) Adept. Holding Jenna and Kraden as hostages, Saturos and Menardi coerced Isaac into handing the gathered Elemental Stars to Alex. However, as Isaac removed the final star from its resting place, the cavern began to violently shake and vibrate, forcing Saturos and his cohorts to retreat without the last star, taking Jenna and Kraden with them. With only the Mars Star, Isaac and Garet left the Sanctum to deliver the news to the people of Vale. In a meeting with the Village Healer and the Village Elder, Isaac and Garet told their story. Without warning, the meeting was interrupted by the appearance of The Wise One – guardian of Sol Sanctum and the Elemental Stars. The Wise One explained that Saturos and Menardi planned on lighting the Four Elemental Lighthouses once more and plunging the world into chaos. As such, he commanded that Isaac and Garet travel to the Lighthouses and stop Saturos and Menardi from lighting all four. With little choice, the two set out to recover the Elemental Stars, rescue their friends and save the world. Pursuing Saturos and Menardi, Isaac and Garet banded together with Ivan, a young Jupiter Adept, before reaching the snowy village of Imil near Mercury Lighthouse. There, they met the Lighthouse's guardian, a Mercury Adept by the name of Mia. Enlisting Mia's aid, they pursued their foes to the aerie high atop Mercury Lighthouse. Arriving slightly too late, the four Adepts were unable to stop Saturos from lighting the beacon with the Mercury Star and escaping. Together with his three companions, Isaac continued to chase Saturos and Menardi across the continent of Angara, eventually reaching the Karagol Sea. Taking passage on a troubled ship plagued by sea monsters, Isaac crossed the Karagol to the bustling city of Tolbi. There, Isaac felt compelled to aid the city guards in their search for the city's missing leader, Babi. In their rescue of Babi, Isaac's group demonstrated their Psynergy, intriguing the strange city leader. Babi entered Isaac in a popular annual tournament held in Tolbi by the name of Colosso to test his powers. With his Psynergy, Isaac bested the other warriors with ease, winning Colosso and earning the respect of Babi. After the tournament, Babi revealed a closely guarded secret – long ago, he had stumbled upon the lost land of Lemuria, a city of near-immortal Mercury Adepts where time passes slowly and the residents age at a snail's pace. Babi had taken a mystic draught from Lemuria which had enabled him to live for over 150 years. Wishing to prolong his life further, Babi promised to aid Isaac in his quest if he in turn promised to seek out Lemuria and supply the old man with more of the powerful draught. Travelling into the continent of Gondowan, into the town of Lalivero, Isaac learned that Saturos and Menardi had kidnapped a young Jupiter Adept named Sheba – a girl of whom they needed within Venus Lighthouse, and later to reach Jupiter Lighthouse. Chasing them to Venus Lighthouse's aerie, Isaac confronted Saturos and Menardi, though Jenna and Kraden were nowhere to be found. The heroes fought and defeated the Mars Adepts, but they were too late--the beacon had been lit. The lighting of the beacon caused violent earthquakes around the lighthouse and surrounding areas. Losing her balance, Sheba fell from the aerie and into the sea. Felix jumped in an attempt to save her, but both were lost in the rolling waves. With no way to save them and no sign of Jenna or Kraden, Isaac and co. returned to Lalivero, where Babi entrusted Isaac with his Lemurian Ship. Isaac, Garet, Ivan and Mia ventured out to sea in the hopes of finding their friends, ensuring Jupiter and Mars Lighthouses remain unlit and seeking out the city of Lemuria. In the epilogue, Jenna and Kraden are revealed to have been sent to a small island, Idejima, to wait while Saturos and Menardi light Venus Lighthouse. Upon the beacon's lighting, the ground shook violently and Idejima was separated from the main land. Drifting through the open sea on Idejima, Jenna and Kraden were approached by Alex, who had something to show them. They followed him to the beach, where Felix and Sheba lay washed up upon the shore… To be continued in Golden Sun 2: The Lost Age ![]() |
